School takes financial hit with water damage
The Underwood School’s basement and gym floor took a hit from late June’s 5.5 inches of rain in two days, as ground water seeped through the foundation, pouring down the west wall down into the basement, as well as going up into the gym floor.
City moving on floodwater project
The city took its first official steps Monday night toward moving ahead with the proposed floodwater project designed by Moore Engineering, voting to establish a "benefitted area" (within the city limits) of the project and authorizing Moore Engineering to prepare a report defining the proposed plan.
Water woes prompt meeting
Underwood’s city commissioners took an informal poll amongst themselves last Tuesday following an informational meeting with representatives of Moore Engineering (the firm that has proposed a water drainage plan for the city), the Falkirk Mining Company, Pam Link of the McLean County Commission, and representatives of the McLean County Water Resource Board.
