2010 General election wrap-up

Mercer County Commission incumbent Frank Bitterman, Golden Valley, thought someone was pulling his leg when he first heard he had received over 2,000 votes in the 2010 General election.
His re-election, however--and the election of many other county, district and statewide delegates--was confirmed not long before the sun rose Wednesday morning.
There were 3,676 total votes cast in Mercer County in a mid-term election that saw 240,844, or 48 percent, of registered voters statewide turn out to the polls. Of those 3,767 total votes cast in Mercer County, roughly 85 percent were cast via mail. Twenty-five of 53 counties, including Mercer County, used the Vote By Mail process in the election, according to the North Dakota Secretary of State’s Elections Division.
