Cops and Kids Fishing Derby this Saturday
The Mercer County Peace Officers Association is sponsoring the fourth Annual Cops and Kids Fishing Derby from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 22 at Harmony Lake, six miles north of Hazen, for children 12 and younger. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
City locks in loan for hotel project
There is still much work to be done – but one small, necessary part of the process to bring a second hotel to Hazen has been completed.
One season ends, another set to go
The 2009-2010 Hazen Concert Series concert season came to a fantastic end with a performance by the Harry James Orchestra April 27 at the Hazen High School Theater. Though if you missed it, not to fret: The 2010-2011 Hazen Concert Series lineup is all ready to go.
Gunshots fired at RV Park
A man was arrested after firing a gun during an altercation Sunday at the Lewis and Clark RV Park in Hazen. According to a report from the Hazen Police Department, reports of shots fired at the RV park were made just before 6 p.m. Sunday. Kelly Heck, 39, Regan, was arrested without event in connection with the shooting, and the police retrieved a loaded Glock .45-caliber pistol as well as spent .45-cal. casings found on the ground at the scene.
Community celebrates new grocery store
The parking lot at the new Krause’s Super Valu has 155 parking spots. That capacity was stretched to the absolute limit during the grocery store’s open house and ribbon-cutting ceremonies last week at the store’s new location in west Hazen.
Time zone hearing May 14 in Hazen
A public hearing to collect the public’s comments on Mercer County’s potential switch to Central time will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 14 at Hazen City Hall in Hazen.

Hazen's 2010 "Weekend with the Arts" was held this past weekend, consisting of Hazen Art and Craft Association's 42nd annual Art Show at Hazen City Hall and Spotlight the Arts' annual "Celebrate the Arts" event Sunday at the Hazen High School Theater.
