Weather will determine Knife River flood levels
According to the National Weather Service, the question isn’t whether or not the Knife River will flood this spring, it is will the river get high enough to cause significant damage.
Beulah to get river gauge by spring
In preparation for the snowmelt this spring, and all future springs, the Mercer County Water Resource Board in their monthly meeting last Thursday afternoon approved the purchase of a seasonal water discharge gauge to help the United States Geological Survey monitor the Knife River in Beulah.

Electricity restored in Roughrider service area
A violent storm of snow, ice and wind left things cold and dark two weeks ago for thousands of residents in North Dakota. As of Monday evening, power was restored to all residents in Mercer and Oliver counties who had been left in the dark for varying lengths of time.
Ice and wind put many out of power
If blowing snow and life-threatening wind-chill factors were a blizzard’s jab and uppercut – freezing rain would be it’s punch aimed below the belt.
When it comes down to the probability of a significant 2010 spring flood event, the winter winds of fortune are blowing favorably upon Mercer County. So far, anyway.
