American Legion events recognize Veterans Day

By Daniel Arens

Veterans Day is a time to honor all those who are serving or have served in our nation’s military, and many communities will hold special events to celebrate the holiday.
Hazen’s American Legion, partnering with the American Legion Auxiliary and Coal Country National Guard Retired Guardsmen, will hold a pancake and sausage feed at Hazen City Hall on Veterans Day. There will also be a Legion bingo event the following day. These events are important fundraisers for the American Legion, which puts on various events such as Legion Baseball throughout the year, on top of its work in promoting veterans’ issues.
The feed is open to everyone, with a free will offering to be collected at the meal. Bingo cards for the following day cost 50 cents per card per game, with a blackout game at the end of the day.
Veterans Service Officer Ron Crowley encourages everyone who has benefited from these services to attend the Veterans Day events, so that similar services can be provided into the future.
“It’s an important day for all veterans,” Crowley said.
