Bike riders coming to Hazen this weekend
By Daniel Arens
More than 200 bicyclists will begin a long trek around western North Dakota this weekend. Their first stop will be Hazen.
These bicyclists, part of an annual cycling tour called “ Cycling Around North Dakota in Sakakawea Country” or CANDISC, come from many areas to bike through the region. As they enter different communities, those communities have the opportunity to interact with them.
CANDISC will be in Hazen Aug. 7 and 8, camping at John Moses Memorial Park and the fields around the Hazen Middle School. Several amenities will be provided for the camping cyclists, such as concessions in the Uncommons at the high school, yoga and massages at the schools, swimming at the pool, a special movie event at Cinema Flix, and basic utilities proved by WRT at the schools, such as computers and phone charging.
Once again, the Hazen Hospital Auxiliary will serve pie and ice cream at the High School Uncommons Aug. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.
