Bismarck Bobcats promote kindness to Hazen kids

By Daniel Arens

One group of successful young men are using their platform to tout inclusion in school districts around western North Dakota.
The Bismarck Bobcats hockey team stopped by Hazen Elementary School Monday while touring several schools in the area to talk about anti-bullying with the kids.
The players may not have been on skates, but for about 25 minutes during the day they glided into classrooms throughout the school to promote the worthy cause.
“We’re just going out to different schools and promoting kindness,” Bobcats Co-Captain Jacob Marti said. “We want to promote no bullying, make everyone fit in.”
The players divided into groups of three and made their way to different classrooms. One would read a book to the kids, while others passed out slips of paper, asking the kids to write encouraging and kind words on the them. These slips were then “linked” together to create a chain of kindness.
