Cadettes work to earn Silver Awards
By Lee Coleman
Girl Scouts Elizabeth Nolan and Emma Crawford, both of Troop 84403, just completed a project towards earning their Silver Awards.
The cadettes teamed up to build 27 bags of food for the Hazen Food Bank that included a recipe and all the necessary ingredients to complete the dish.
“I’m glad they remembered the Food Bank,” said director Alvina Hagler. “It is good for kids to remember food doesn’t drop out of the sky.”
Nolan said she and Crawford both agreed a dual effort would be good.
“We thought it would be a good idea to do this together rather than by ourselves,” she said. “It worked out pretty well. It was nice to have another person to help.”
“It was really nice to work with some friends and give back to the community helping others,” Crawford added.
Not only will this project help feed people in the community, Nolan said it is also a big help to the Food Bank.
“It helps the community and the food pantry,” explained Nolan. “The Food Bank gets donations rather than having to spend money.”
The key, Crawford said, is making sure plenty of food is available.
