Carbon capture potential at area plant

By Daniel Arens

When it comes to coal production, the talk of the day is carbon capture.
Carbon capture is a process by which the carbon dioxide produced through coal production is either stored or recycled rather than released. The process is new, and expensive, but with lots of environmental concerns about CO2, the energy industry hopes carbon capture can offer a means to cut emissions while still producing reliable coal energy.
Wade Boeshans, president and general manager of BNI Energy Inc., spoke at the annual meeting of the Hazen Community Development’s (HCD) annual meeting at Hazen City Hall last Wednesday. Originally hailing from near Beulah, he has 20 years of experience in the coal industry across the United States.
