Celebrating a Hazen success

Celebrating a Hazen success

By Daniel Arens

As the kids at the Energy Capital Cooperative Child Care Center celebrate the Christmas season, people around the area can celebrate the impact this organization has in Hazen and Mercer County.
“Things are going very good,” Dana Santini, child care director, said. “We have 75 kids enrolled currently.”
Numbers have grown for the center since it began operating only a year and a half ago. Santini said the large enrollment and busy schedules are proof of the need the area has for child care services.
“It just took off like a rocket,” she said. “It’s just been spectacular.”
In order to provide for the increased number of kids enrolled, staff numbers have also risen. Currently, there are 22 employees with the child care center.
The center runs weekdays from 5:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Kids are dropped off in shifts, depending on the hours their parents are working.
