Chamber eager for new year

By Lee Coleman

The Hazen Chamber of Commerce hired a new executive director in March and needless to say, Terri Philion has had a 2014 full of lessons learned.
Throughout it all, Philion said the Chamber will be better for it and is looking forward to turning the page to a brand new year,
“It was a great year,” Philion said. “We learned a lot along the way. We had a few hiccups but we definitely had a great year and had a lot of support from the community and local businesses.
“We are ready to get started on the events in 2015.”
Most importantly, Philion said she developed good relationships with the Chamber directors as well as those of the Convention and Visitor Bureau.
“The directors from the CVB and Chamber did an excellent job of supporting me while I learned how to orchestrate the various events the Chamber sponsors,” Philion explained. “The businesses have also been extremely kind and patient while I learned how the Chamber can best take care of our members.”
While there were a lot of positives during the year, Philion said she missed the boat on meeting all Chamber members.
“I have tried to stop by all of our members businesses,” she said. “I didn’t make it to all of our businesses but that is a goal in 2015. I want to make sure I have a personal connection with each member of the Chamber.
