With the blossoming of trees and flowers right around the corner, it is also time for art to blossom in local communities. In fact, many artists are submitting their work for display in a large annual art show hosted in Hazen.
For Cheryl Neely, preparing her own art submissions is just one part of the work for the upcoming show. As the featured artist this year, Neely will also be demonstrating to art show attendees how to create art pieces of their own.
“She’s very knowledgeable about art,” Stacie Kruckenberg, Hazen Art and Craft Association President, said. Kruckenberg noted that Neely has been a longtime member of the association; Neely was president of the association herself for a few years, and also helped direct previous art shows.
“I work a lot of mediums: oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, pencil,” Neely said. For the Hazen Art Show, she will do a demonstration and workshop with colored pencils, likely on April 30.
Neely, a resident of Beulah who works at Swanson Chiropractic, said she plans to bring one completed and framed colored pencil artwork for display, while providing small papers for those attending the workshop to try their own hand at the art style.
