City asks residents to do the math before building

Garages and sheds are some homeowners’ dreams mounted outside their houses. But Hazen residents will eventually have new specifications when adding a detached addition to their lots. City officials are on the road to a new amendment for accessory buildings.
Residents have come to the city asking to build on their personal property for years. A public hearing was held before the Monday City Commission meeting allowing residents to bring their opinions forward about a new amendment for accessory buildings. A public hearing with the Planning and Zoning Board was in July concerning the amendment and only one city resident appeared to express an opinion.
