City commission approves water project

By Daniel Arens

After receiving numerous bids following a decision to extend the timeframe for their project, the Hazen City Commission is moving forward with the new water storage facility for the community.
Jerod Klabunde, Moore Engineering, reviewed the bids with the commission during their last meeting May 17. There are three different contracts related to the project: one for the underground work, one for the actual tank and one for electrical work.
The low bidders, respectively, with each of the three portions of the project are Tand Construction (underground), DN Tanks (tank) and B&G Electric (electrical).
Besides the three contractors, another complication with the project involves alternates.
These optional items are controls for lift station updates, cutting off the reservoir and making a parking lot behind the water treatment facility west of the city hall and connecting water lines up near the new tank site.
