City sets public meeting for sewer main project

It involves relatively few property owners, but it involves a pretty hefty hunk of cash -- so the Hazen City Commission wants to ensure those property owners know exactly what it is they’re paying for.
About 30 Hazen property owners will be helping pay for a sewer main replacement project costing about $300,000 that’s slated to take place this coming spring. For the project, a gravity-fed sewer main would be replaced running through blocks 46, 38 and 6 between Third Avenue West and Second Avenue West.
To explain the project and hear concerns of those 30 property owners owners in the special assessment district, the city will hold a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 at Hazen City Hall. At the commission’s regular meeting Monday evening, they also decided to send letters to each affected residence explaining the project details.
