Commission considers bypass switch for backup power
By Daniel Arens
Issues with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) battery at the county courthouse in Stanton revealed an even larger potential problem than simply replacing it: the fact that a shutdown of the battery system could result in the temporary loss of power to the entire courthouse and jail.
Due to these concerns, the Mercer County Commission has expressed interest in pursuing purchasing a bypass switch that would ensure power for essential equipment would remain in place if the UPS systemneeded to go down.
