Commission terminates Braun’s employment

Mercer County Commissioners decided last week that it was time to terminate the employment of the county road superintendent, Roy Braun.
The relationship between the commission and the department had at times been difficult for both entities in the past few years, especially concerning terminated employees, settlements and flat-out arguments in the county shop or in commission chambers, commissioners said. The most recent attempt at bettering communication between the two entities had been assigning Commissioners Bill Tveit and Gary Murray to handle the roads department portfolio. Communications seemed to improve, although four recent grievances filed by road department employees were the last update to the commission before the special meeting was called to address Braun’s employment there.
