Communication is key
Local fire departments and emergency staff responded to a tornado in Zap Thursday. Well, it was a fake tornado.
Mercer County put on a functional exercise to test communications between departments using radios. The event was held at the GrandView Steakhouse in Beulah. The group played out a scenario where a tornado hit Zap and the departments had to respond to three incidents; a structure fire, a building collapse and an anhydrous ammonia spill from a truck rollover.
