Continuing a legacy of service to the county
By Daniel Arens
Some people leave such an impact on the lives of those around them that it’s hard to imagine those lives without them.
One Beulah resident has served her community and county exceptionally well over the years. Dena Kemmet, NDSU Extension Agency Family and Community Wellness agent, has worn many hats during that time, from providing services for senior residents to promoting nutrition and healthy habits to coordinating the many 4-H clubs in the county
Recently, Kemmet resigned from her position at the Beulah office of the Extension service, as she was promoted to a district director position with the agency. Now, she will carry the expertise and the focus on people which has been a hallmark of her service here to a larger level.
In the meantime, she leaves big shoes to fill in Mercer County. Craig Askim, NDSU Extension agent with Mercer County, attended the latest county commission meeting June 3, where he presented West District Director Jim Gray to discuss options for this position.
Gray said he wanted to make sure he had the county’s blessing in filling Kemmet’s position in the Beulah office, as well as what aspects of the multifaceted job they wanted the potential new hire to focus most on.
