Cookies bringing communities together

It’s not just an event for sweethearts on the day dedicated to love. It’s a pastime for volunteers throughout Mercer County.
It’s the Sakakawea Hospice Valentine’s Day Cookie Fundraiser.
The premise of the day is simple: make special holiday cookies, and deliver them for people around Hazen and the surrounding area to help make people feel loved. But, behind the scenes of this annual event, there is a lot of hard work.
First there is the preparation of all those cookies. Not only do adult volunteers come out for that, but the Hazen Preschool kids also lend their helping hands to make the packaged cookies look their best.
