County commission returns wind ordinance to zoning board

By Daniel Arens
With questions and concerns rising from multiple sides, the Mercer County Commission unanimously voted to return the proposed wind ordinance for the county to the planning and zoning board for further review.
The decision follows a previous decision by the commission in April to postpone action on the wind ordinance until after the 2021 legislative session wrapped up. The commissioners expressed concern at that point about taking action if such action might be overruled by legislative decisions.
During Wednesday’s commission meeting, various residents and landowners in the county, as well as organization leaders, gathered at the meeting room to hear the final verdict from the board. Despite the large attendance, only one person from the public spoke.
