Darci Grunett directs national recognized paramedic program

By Daniel Arens

A former Hazen resident is the director of a nationally recognized paramedic program at Bismarck State College.
Darci Grunett took over the direction of BSC’s paramedic program three years ago. Under her leadership, the program has grown and expanded. Recently, the Community for Accredited Online Schools, a leading resource for higher education and college accreditation information, recognized these accomplishments, naming the program the No. 6-ranked paramedic program in the nation.
“It is a really comprehensive training program that is also really broad,” Grunett said.
This program was started by St. Alexius. Grunett and BSC took over the program in 2013, working to rebuild it from the ground up while also educating students.
“I have a master’s degree in business, so I put a lot of thought into the direction we are going,” Grunett said. She credited BSC’s emphasis on low tuition rates as a major factor in why the program received the ranking it did.
