Disaster averted: Lake Shore completes emergency pumping

Six days of emergency efforts to save Lake Shore Estates residents from flooding have been deemed successful.
Lake Shore residents executed an emergency plan last week to divert snow melt runoff around the subdivision and into Lake Sakakawea. The plan consisted of diverting water via pumps, pipes and culvert gates from northeast of the subdivision south over Beulah Bay Road and down the east side of the subdivision’s access road about a quarter-mile to a man-made ditch block. The water was then pumped west about 740 feet into Lake Sakakawea.
