Fifty years of artistic triumph

By Daniel Arens
For half a century, one organization has dedicated countless hours of time and energy to making sure residents of Hazen and people from around the area can appreciate the talent that is found here.
As April begins, members of the Hazen Art and Craft Association (HACA) are preparing to celebrate this 50 year milestone with a show to top all others.
Each year, HACA has put on a show in Hazen that allows area artists to demonstrate and display their skills to the public. Not often is rural North Dakota associated with the arts, but HACA makes sure people in the communities of Mercer County and other nearby towns can experience an artistic culture in a small-town environment.
In 1968, a group of community-minded individuals came together to provide a showcase for local artists in town.
