Fire takes rural Hazen home
The home of Melvin and Carol Hays Maas, about 10 miles south of Hazen, was destroyed by fire Friday, Oct. 2 afternoon. The couple was injured in the blaze and are in a Minneapolis hospital. The blaze was called in by a neighbor about 3:30 in the afternoon, said Dan Wettstein, chief of the Hazen Fire Department. The 911 dispatcher notified the Hazen Fire Department, which responded to the scene.
