Fluke equipment issue impacts WRT utilities

Fluke equipment issue impacts WRT utilities

Late last week, an unexpected equipment issue involving a power inverter set off a chain reaction that caused downed equipment for numerous WRT customers in Mercer County and the region beyond.
Troy Schilling, WRT general manager, noted that the power issue took out three redundant server clusters that the company uses to connect its systems together. The issue began between 10:30 and 11 a.m. last Thursday morning.
The outage impacted residents and businesses throughout the WRT service area, although not everyone was affected. WRT’s own internal network was also taken down.
From the time of the initial system failure, WRT employees worked nearly 24/7 through Sunday morning to try to get the main system back up. Currently, WRT is still hoping to identify any remaining lines that might be down, although the system for the most part has been restored.
