Graduates prepare for a call to service

By Daniel Arens
Two young men are preparing to answer a higher purpose for their country as they approach the end of their high school years.
William Tryon and Jordan Rakes have been close friends throughout their years growing up. That friendship, as well as the examples of their families, propelled the boys to look to the U.S. Armed Services in general, and the U.S. Marine Corps in particular, for their post-high school calling.
Tryon is preparing to graduate from Hazen High School this weekend, while Rakes will be graduating from Beulah High School. Over the course of the next several months, they will complete their boot camp training at Camp Pendleton, although their timing isn’t exactly the same as the other’s: Tryon will head out in June, while Rakes makes the journey in August.
