Hazen and Hogwarts: A story of four houses

Courageous Gryffindors. Crafty Slytherins. Intelligent Ravenclaws. Gentle Hufflepuffs.
Thanks to the “Harry Potter” book and movie series, these names have entered into the minds of millions of Americans. But is it possible to translate them from the world of fantasy into our own communities?
With the start of the second semester for the Hazen School District, the elementary school is looking at taking a cue from “Harry Potter” in providing a new incentive for kids to work together, succeed and do good in their classrooms and their town.
During the monthly school assembly Friday, Elementary Principle Trevor Sinclair performed a “Sorting Ceremony” for third, fourth and fifth graders in the school. Sinclair even had his own Sorting Hat, although this one didn’t speak when placed upon a head.
