Hazen Fire rolls out new rescue truck

By LEE COLEMAN

The Hazen Fire Department held an open house last Sunday to introduce the department’s big, new rescue truck to the community.
With slightly inclement weather outside, a good crowd came to see the truck as well as all the other fire vehicles and equipment of the department.
“I appreciate everyone coming out to look at the new truck,” said Fire Chief Dan Wettstein. “There were a lot of questions so it was good we were able to answer them all. The truck is big and it handles all of our equipment.
“It is laid out much more simplified than our last truck where everything was piled into one compartment. This way, it is organized so we can open a drawer and get what we need.”
Training is underway on the truck, including getting certified to drive the truck to a scene.
