Hazen housing takes first steps

More housing could be available in Hazen in the future if everything goes according to plan.
Last week the Hazen City Commission unanimously approved a site control agreement with Williams Building Company at its regular meeting. The site control agreement would serve as the preliminary plan that allows the building company to seek investors and begin moving forward with further plans.
Ted Williams and Steve Martin presented their plans to the commission early in the meeting. The proposal allowed for single family homes and up to 120 apartments in the multi-phased development in the west side of the city.
Martin stated that an important thing the city would need to keep in mind was that the developers needed access to water and sewer. Later in the meeting Williams clarified that what that meant was the city would need to bring their infrastructure to the edge of the development, where the builders would take over and bring lines into the individual properties.
Martin stressed that the two would be the developers and general contractors, they would broker their properties through local real estate agents, utilize local architects and designers, work with local sub contractors, and retain local legal counsel.
During the presentation the two offered photos and plans of similar housing they’d built - both single and multi-family - in other locations.
