Hazen native capitalizing on creative talent

Michelangelo was born to paint. Beethoven was born to compose music. Shane Bauer was born to create graphics.

Shane, the son of Jim and Connie Bauer, Hazen, grew up with the gift of graphic design.

"Everyone would ask me for that type of stuff," Shane said.

Hazen’s cross-country team, dance team – whichever organization was in need of a fresh graphic design for a jacket and T-shirt. He even designed the original North Star hockey logo in 1992 as a sophomore.

"It was just always there," Shane said of his talent.

Shane started young, when the Bauer family made their very own Christmas tree ornaments, Connie said. He eventually received a How-to-draw book, and was always filling his school notebooks with doodles and sketches. By his teen years, Shane was creating some "interesting drawings," Connie said.
