Hazen not falling into floodplain without fight
The Mercer County Water Resource Board picked up the ball and ran with it. Now they have the Hazen City Commission as a lead blocker – and the tandem will try to save the residents of Hazen a lot of money in flood insurance costs. The water board funded an Antelope Creek water profile study by Ulteig Engineering, and will now form a joint powers agreement with the city commission to finance further surveying – and get results they are hopeful would help Hazen residents stay out of the expensive high-risk flood zone.
