Help out on Giving Hearts Day
By Chris Erickson
Next Thursday will be a statewide effort to raise money for various charitable causes and non-profit organizations. On a local level, Sakakawea Medical Center will be participating in the daylong fundraising drive.
The 24-hour fundraising event is co-sponsored by the Dakota Medical Foundation and Impact Foundation of North Dakota. Since its inception, Giving Hearts Day has served as a great way for non-profit entities to have their donations matched by DMF.
During the 24-hour event, donations made through the impactgiveback.com website of $10 or more will be matched up to $4,000 by the DMF and other donors.
In order to be chosen to be a part of the event, non-profits go through a competitive application process where DMF checks if they meet the following criteria:
· It must be a High Impact Nonprofit
· It must have a significant local presence (i.e., physical office); active programming within N.D. or western Minnesota, local governing control, and attest that 100 percent of the money raised will be used locally.
· It must have at least one full-time paid staff position.
