Hushka pleads guilty to child sex crime

Kevin Lee Hushka, Hazen, entered a plea of guilty to the charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child on Sept. 18 before the Honorable Sonna Anderson in the South Central Judicial District Court at the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan.
The violation is a class AA felony under section 12.1-20.03.1 of the North Dakota Century Code. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 30 before the Honorable Thomas Schneider at the Morton County Courthouse.
In North Dakota, class AA felonies carry a maximum potential sentence of life in prison, although the charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child does not have a mandatory minimum sentence.
A presentence investigation report had been previously ordered and filed. Hushka, 35, had 10 days to request the court’s order directing further sexual offender risk assessments.
It is expected Hushka will be required to register as a sexual offender at the sentencing.
Following his arrest April 26, 2013, Hushka posted a $10,000 cash-only bond and will remain free until the sentencing hearing.
