Ice and wind put many out of power
If blowing snow and life-threatening wind-chill factors were a blizzard’s jab and uppercut – freezing rain would be it’s punch aimed below the belt. Snow began falling Thursday in the area, and talks of a weekend winter storm cancelled weekend events statewide. Above-freezing temperatures turned some of that early snow into intermittent periods of freezing rain that coated everything in its path, including roadways, sidewalks and power lines.
