Little town talent, big time success

They're from the north but they're not Canadian. They are North Dakota born and raised.
The lyrics from one duo's song has helped two Hazen sisters go from singing in the kitchen to YouTube sensations.
Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh, also known as Tigirlily, released their original song “North Dakota” Aug. 20. Within the week the video had 90,000 views on YouTube. The song started playing on radio stations across the state and even charted at 278 on iTunes.
“Right away when we got the video we thought maybe in three days we could get to 25,000,” 17-year-old Kendra said. “It just skyrocketed.”
It isn't the first video that the two sisters released. They got their start on the video blog site three years ago. They first recorded themselves singing with friends and at events. They started to write original songs and sang covers in their home. They recorded several videos in front of the kitchen refrigerator.
The girls released their first single “Just Another Pretty Face” in January with the help of Hazen music teacher Chris Harvey and imagineRecordings. The recording company in California also helped the duo release their first record “Good Place to Start.”
