Local events brought the community out and about

Residents of Hazen have been kept busy over this last week with several events, opportunities to enjoy fun, food, and friends, as well as benefit important causes in the community and on a larger scale.
Staff and employees from Basin Electric, as well as community members, gathered at Leland Olds Station near Stanton on March 17 for one of several “Brave the Shaves” events that the company is holding in North Dakota. While many of the fundraisers are held in the Bismarck area, the event at Leland Olds allowed Mercer County residents to gather together and support the cause.
Twenty individuals had their heads shaved, while the money raised by participating in the event will go to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation charity, a volunteer organization that researches and helps children with cancer.
Hazen Home Health and Hospice held their annual Grape Escape fundraiser March 18, which features a wide variety of wines and hors d’oeuvers for residents to enjoy. Over 150 people showed up for the event, and Hospice Director Lori Knoll noted that she expected this year’s event to be the largest yet in 14 years.
