Major changes to county policies
By Daniel Arens
During a final meeting of 2018, the Mercer County Commission made significant changes to their policies in time to greet the new year.
The Mercer County Planning and Zoning Committee presented their recommended amendments to the county’s zoning policy to address medical marijuana as well as stipulated the need for Custer Health approval for individual on-site systems residence applications, with collector or centralized sewer systems requiring state approval.
These recommended changes were addressed during a meeting Dec. 19 at the Mercer County Museum in Beulah. This is the third year the commission held their “Christmas” meeting at the museum, providing a change from the regular courthouse meetings in Stanton.
