Mercer County Ambulance members recognized

Hazen heroes were recognized with a life saving award nomination.
Cloe Frey, Stacey Zuern, and Walt Wolff were nominated by a Hazen police officer for the recognition award, following their speedy response to an emergency call concerning an unresponsive man from a road construction crew.
The officer, who was the first to arrive at the scene, began to apply a shock and CPR after analyzing the man’s condition through an automated external defibrillator (AED). Shortly after, ambulance staff arrived on scene, opening an airway and taking over CPR after the officer delivered a second shock.
After transfer to the Sakakawea Medical Center (SMC), the ambulance crew assisted the hospital staff, and were notified of a pulse and fair heart rhythm. The same crew later transferred the patient to Sanford Hospital in Bismarck.
