Mercer County states its case
Mercer County officials and city representatives met with personnel from the North Dakota Department of Transportation Thursday morning in Bismarck to make their case face-to-face as to why a 10-mile stretch of County Road 21 should be on the state highway system. "We’ve got a problem here that’s 25 years old and getting more expensive every year," Mercer County Commissioner Frank Bitterman said. The stretch of paved road serves Dakota Gasification Company’s Great Plains Synfuels Plant, as well as Antelope Valley Station and Coteau’s Freedom Mine northwest of Beulah.
