Minneapolis poet gives tips for expressing yourself
By Daniel Arens
Rhythm. Cadence. Enunciation. Expression. Depth of emotion.
All of these were readily noticeable as Joe Davis recited his poem “Love Always” to students in Mrs. Marianne Schmitt’s English II classes last Wednesday.
“With poetry, it really gives us more space to be intentional,” Davis told the kids.
Davis is a poet out of Minneapolis, Minn., and has toured nationally with his poetry and poetic music. He is the frontman of The Poetic Diaspora, a soul, funk and word ensemble. His focus is on the ability of the arts in general, and poetry in particular, to provide healing for people.
