North Dakota farmers struggled to get their crops in after a rainy season, but Mercer County is in good condition, the extension agent said.
“We are definitely in better shape than most of the state,” Craig Askim said. “I would say about 85-90 percent of the crop was put into the ground in Mercer County.”
Mercer County was able to plant more than what other farmers, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. North Dakota planted an estimated 5.7 million acres of spring wheat, 1 percent down from last year.
