New eatery opens in Hazen

After months of behind-the-scenes work from many community organizations, and after months of anticipation and excitement for the community’s residents, a new restaurant has opened its doors for business in Hazen.
Bison Bar and Grill, located at 604 7th St. NE, fills a niche for a sports-bar-style eatery with both large space for seating and a large menu with a variety of great food choices.
“We specialize in large portions of food prepared from scratch,” Eric Kehr, Bison Bar and Grill manager, said.
He stressed that the cooks completely make their own food, as well as house-made desserts.
Early last week soft openings were held for various members of the community at Bison Bar and Grill, culminating in the grand public opening Aug. 17.
The restaurant will be open 7 days a week, with hours running 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 4 to 9 p.m. Sundays.
“We make pizza from 11 [a.m.] to 11 [p.m.] every night,” Kehr said.
He added that stromboli, an Italian dish similar to a calzone, will also be available every night with the pizza.
Kehr said that each day of the week will have a different special (for a list of each day’s specials, see the sidebar with this story).
On top of the daily special, every day will feature a second special for lunch and dinner meals, chosen for that particular meal period.
From Monday through Friday each week, the restaurant will have a “happy hour” from 5 to 6 p.m., featuring 2-for-1 meals and free appetizers at the bar and lounge.
As well as the main restaurant and bar area, the other end of the building features a banquet hall that can seat 75 people. The room is Internet integrated, with two large-screen televisions on either end of the room synced to the Internet.
