One man’s crap is another’s headache

One man’s crap is another’s headache

Decisions made carelessly and in haste can produce negative consequences, for you and for those around you.
This is true in many arenas of life, including what else flows down your pipes besides water and waste.
Now, with COVID-19 and the resultant social distancing guidelines disrupting public gatherings and distance traveling, more problems are emerging as people stay home.
“I’ve been out more than normal,” Ryan Tunge, Hazen Water and Sewer Department, said. “We’ve had to pull a few pumps.”
At home, people are using their own drains and pipes more. Showers, toilets and sinks at home are seeing a lot more use, and in some cases misuse.
Tunge said city workers are being called out more and more often to address plugged pipes or sewer backups, mostly resulting from inappropriate materials being washed or flushed down the drains. He urged residents to show caution.
