Over-the-phone business
A temporary use permit approved over the phone by county commissioners raised questions about open meeting laws.
Land use administrator Gary Emter reported on a request from Perreault Construction Inc. April 17 during a Mercer County Commission meeting at the County Courthouse. The permit would allow the company to haul sand from a pit approximately one mile south of Hazen during daylight hours. The business called Emter April 4 to find out when it could be approved. He told Perreault it would have to wait until the next meeting, which was April 17.
