Potential revenue decreases haunt budget discussion
By Daniel Arens
It’s a race against the clock for the county commission to approve a preliminary budget for 2021.
Although this paper will go to press prior to that budget approval, the decision is scheduled to be Aug. 5. After that point, the process of preparing for a final budget, including a public hearing on the commission’s decisions, will begin.
On both July 22 and Aug. 3, the county commissioners held a lengthy discussion of the individual line items of all departments and services, following the submission of proposed budgets for the upcoming year from those departments the middle of last month.
