Ready to respond, preparing to protect

As of this article’s being sent to print Tuesday afternoon, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 (coronoavirus) in Mercer County. But just that same day, the first case reported in neighboring Dunn County was confirmed, and it may be only a matter of time.
But leaders in the health care field are doing everything they can to take advantage of the time we do have in preparing their patients, and in making sure they themselves are equipped to act.
“What we’re trying to make sure to do is to protect our patients and our staff,” Darrold Bertsch, CEO of Sakakawea Medical Center (SMC) and Coal Country Community Health Center (CCCHC), said.
