Semi hits ditch to avoid car

A semi that tipped over in the ditch Aug. 22 caused a delay in traffic two miles east of Hazen.

The semi was traveling west on Highway 200 when a car heading east entered his lane. The semi driver veered to the left to avoid the car and took the ditch.

Local law enforcement and emergency staff responded to the scene at approximately 11 a.m. Agencies included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Hazen Police Department Mercer County Ambulance Service and Hazen Fire Department

Traffic was reduced to one lane and directed as the crew worked to clear the area.

No one was injured during the accident, according the the HPD. The Highway Patrol handled the report, officials said, but were unable to provide the names of the drivers and further information at press time.
