Showing their skills: Local kids participate in taekwondo
By Daniel Arens
From breaking boards to sparring matches, many youth from around the area have found a way to hone their skills and show their talents.
The Hazen Taekwondo club is dedicated to helping kids (and adults as well) from throughout Mercer County learn the variety of moves, forms and techniques to improve their strength, flexibility, speed and coordination in contests and challenges throughout the area.
There are two classes that people from the area can get involved in, both of which meet twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays. The first class meets from 6:15-7:05 p.m., and consists of the younger kids, starting at age 5 and usually going up to about age 10. This is followed by a second class for older kids and adults, running from 7:15-8:15.
