Six Hazen graduates plan to enter service

Several upcoming Hazen graduates are planning to pursue their futures in the service of the country.
Vincent Walker, Mason Wiedrich, Colin Johnson, Justin Traiser, Jordan Johnson, and Kyle Larson decided to enlist in various branches of the United States Armed Forces.
Walker and Colin Johnson plan to enter the United States Army, Wiedrich the United State Air Force, Traiser and Larson the United States Marine Corp, and Jordan Johnson the United States Army National Guard.
“It’s just something honorable,” Wiedrich said. “Not very many want to do it, if you believe you are the type of people who can, then you should.”
Walker plans to leave Hazen in July to travel to Fort Benning, Ga., for advanced individual training. The training lasts 10 weeks at Fort Benning, after which he plans to head to For Eustis, Va., for an additional 20 weeks. He noted that he has had lots of family serve in the military, most notably in the Army.
Wiedrich will begin his seven-and-a-half weeks of basic training at Lackland Air Force Base. Texas, June 7. He plans to become involved as a member of the Tactical Air Control Party, an air support group. Wiedrich also discussed a family tradition in the service, noting that the Air Force “has the best benefits and the job I always wanted.”
Colin Johnson will start his basic training in Jackson, S.C., for 10 weeks. He plans for another seven weeks of training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., finishing with three weeks at Fort Benning, Ga. Colin noted that his cousins were in the service.
